Position Title: Chief Operations and Strategy Officer (COO)Reports To: CEO/Executive DirectorOverview:Isuroon is a women-led, community-driven organization motivated by the belief that Somali women and girls deserve to be healthy and have a strong voice. We are a linguistic and cultural bridge connecting women with wellness information, trusted health care providers, financial literacy, civic engagement, and leadership. For health care providers and policymakers, we are a partner to improve outcomes and decrease disparity through culturally competent training and research. Our name, Isuroon, means “a woman who cares for herself.” With their courage and our resources, Somali women and girls in Minnesota can:Overcome obstacles such as language barriers, racism, and religious intolerance.Navigate a complex and unfamiliar health care system.Become advocates for their own physical, social, and financial wellness.Job Summary:The Chief Operations and Strategy Officer (COO) is a senior executive role that is responsible for translating the organization's strategic vision into actionable plans and ensuring operational excellence. As a key strategic partner to the CEO/Executive Director, the COO will oversee the integration of various programs and projects, facilitate communication across departments, and drive the alignment of departmental goals with the organization’s broader strategy. This role is crucial in enhancing communication effectiveness, streamlining processes, and ensuring the overall operational and strategic cohesion of the organization.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership:Collaborate closely with the CEO/Executive Director to understand and articulate the strategic goals and vision of the organization.Develop and implement strategies to align departmental activities with the organization’s long-term objectives.Operational Oversight:Oversee the integration of various programs and departments, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational efficiency.Provide strategic direction and operational support to program leaders, guiding them in aligning their departmental objectives with the organizational vision.Communication and Collaboration:Serve as the central point of contact for cross-departmental communication, ensuring effective information flow and engagement across the organization.Organize and lead executive meetings, briefings, and strategic updates to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned.Strategic Advising:Offer high-level strategic advice and constructive feedback to senior leaders and program managers.Support departments in aligning their strategic initiatives with the overall organizational goals.Process Optimization:Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.Develop and maintain systems for tracking organizational performance and strategic progress, providing regular reports and analyses.Problem Solving and Crisis Management:Proactively identify and address potential issues, collaborating with departments to develop effective solutions.Manage escalations and complex challenges with a strategic approach, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.Extensive experience from 5-10 years in a senior management or executive role, with a strong track record in strategic integration and operational leadership.Extensive communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior executives and diverse teams.Strong organizational and analytical abilities, with a focus on strategic thinking and process improvement.Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.High level of integrity, professionalism, and adaptability, with an understanding of and sensitivity to East African cultural contexts.Ability to integrate departmental visions with organizational strategy and drive cohesive action.What We Offer:Annual salary of $92,000 - $95,000.Paid time off.Paid holiday.Health insurance stipend.
