Wharton-Smith, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced
Project Engineer
to work in the
Water/Wastewater Division
in the
Charlotte, NC
area. The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of specific project tasks as assigned by the Project Manager. In this position, the candidate will interface with the estimating division (Project Engineers will gain/enhance experience in estimating), Operations Coordinators (administrative functions are required to complete many assigned tasks) and the Project Superintendent as well as the Project Manager.
Responsibilities:Primarily performs duties in planning for environmental projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities and pump stations.Maintain and update schedules.Identify need for and write RFI’s.Prepare, review and process shop drawings.Maintain as-built drawings.Collect and assemble O&M materials.Purchase Order and Subcontract Scope analysis and drafting.Material purchasing and expediting.Value engineering design and proposals.Coordinating with Subcontractors and Vendors.Contract document distribution to job site, vendors and subcontractors.Visits project sites to monitor progress conformance to plans and standards.Coordinate facility startup activities.Provide the Project Manager with support and accurate information to maximize project management effectiveness.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience as Project Engineer preferred.
