DutiesWHAT IS THE INDEPENDENT OFFICE OF APPEALS (AP) DIVISION?A description of the business units can be found at:Vacancies will be filled in the following specialty areas:Independent Office of AppealsCase and Operations SupportSpecialized Exam Prog and RefCollection AppealsExamination AppealsThe following are the duties of this position at the full working level:Holds conferences and negotiates issues with taxpayers/representatives to resolve tax disputes in a fair and impartial manner.Advises and coaches team members regarding their team assignments, providing appropriate and substantive feedback.Communicates and fosters dialogue with peers, customers, and partners, leading teams that work cases and coaching individual employees.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentTelework Eligible Positions:

Employees must meet IRS telework eligibility requirements.Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.Must successfully complete a background investigation, including a FBI criminal history record check.Employment may be conditional on classification and/or audit of federal tax returns.QualificationsFederal experience is not required. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-07:

One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-05 in the Federal service, including knowledge of tax laws and regulations.OR

One year of graduate education in a related field.OR

Superior Academic Achievement may be met by having a Bachelor's degree with specific GPA criteria.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09:

One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-07, including experience analyzing tax returns.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11:

One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-09, including experience applying tax law to resolve tax issues.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12:

One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-11, including experience applying tax law to resolve disputes.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-13:

One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-12, including experience conducting legal research related to tax issues.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-14:

One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to GS-13, including experience negotiating tax dispute resolutions.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-15:
