Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the entire accounting cycle, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Prepare, analyze, and present financial reports to management, board of directors, and other stakeholders.
- Develop and manage the organization's annual budget, monitor actual results against the budget, and provide explanations for any variances.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements by studying existing and new legislation and maintaining compliance with financial and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Implement, maintain, and review financial policies and procedures to ensure internal control.
- Assist in strategic planning and decision-making at the management level by providing pertinent financial input.
- Work closely with program directors and project managers to provide financial information and analysis that will aid in decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A CPA designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and federal and state financial regulations.
- Proficiency in budget development and oversight, as well as financial analysis and forecasting.
- Experience with financial software and systems, and a high degree of proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
