About the Job

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager role is dedicated to delivering finance and accounting services for our client, including performing advanced general ledger accounting tasks such as calculating prepaids, month-end accruals, general ledger and bank reconciliations, and grant tracking. Additionally, the role involves managing payroll and staff benefits while providing support to various departments. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this position maintains a close working relationship with an external CFO consultant to guarantee the accuracy of monthly and annual financial reports, the filing of licenses and taxes, and efficient management of our client's payroll.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the preparation and processing of accounts payable checks, credit card transactions, and other incurred expenses, including artist fees and deposits.

Manages the processing of payments from a wide array of sources, including individuals, business partners, foundations, and more.

Ensures precise coding of revenue and expenses to facilitate accurate financial reporting.

Conducts reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, as well as all balance sheet accounts, such as inventory, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accrued payroll, and other accrued payables.

Maintains compliance with state and federal regulations pertaining to payroll, property tax, human resources, and other governmental reporting requirements, whether they are annual or recurring.

Collaborates with an external financial consultant and adheres to the parameters established by the Board's policy to monitor operating reserves, ensuring they meet monthly requirements, and provides periodic recommendations to the CEO and finance committee.

Supervises document retention policies associated with various aspects of the organization, including payables, artist contracts, receivables, fixed assets, donations, trades, underwriters, advertisers, employment records, personnel data, insurance, worker's compensation, bank accounts, board minutes, organizational policies, and more.

Prepares schedules for the annual audit and assists auditors as required.

Manages the preparation and processing of payroll, related benefits, and HR activities, in addition to handling quarterly and annual reports, W2s, 1099s, and occasional 1042s.

Keeps records on employee vacations, sick leave, unpaid time off, and mileage reimbursements, ensures new employees complete all necessary forms for payroll and benefits distribution, and oversees benefits administration, including health and retirement programs.

As a dedicated member of our client's team, attends occasional events as necessary.
