Job Details

The Automation Engineer will design, fabricate, program, install, commission/test, and support Water/Wastewater control systems. These systems include process instrumentation, control panels, motor controls, power monitoring, PLCs, OITs/HMIs, SCADA/DCS systems, industrial networking, IT infrastructure, radio/cellular telemetry, reporting, and data collection.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop conceptual designs, solutions, and product specifications based on end-user requirements.

Perform in-house PLC/OIT/HMI programming and testing.

Conduct onsite work for municipal clients, including instrumentation configuration, installation assistance, and control system start-up/testing.

Be on-call 24/7 to troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues once competent, rotating weekly with other staff. Respond to outages within 15 minutes.

Occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds without assistance.

Skills and Experience:

Engineering or Technology degree from an ABET-accredited program.

5+ years of experience as an Electrical/Controls Engineer in design, programming, installation, and startup tasks.

Expertise in programming Allen-Bradley Logix platform PLCs.

Experience with fieldwork, including panel wiring, startup, and emergency support/troubleshooting.

Proficiency in SCADA software development (FactoryTalk View SE, Ignition, Wonderware, VTSCADA, or iFix).

Experience programming Allen-Bradley PanelView or other manufacturer touch screens.

Strong networking and computer skills; advanced skills are a plus.

Excellent oral, written, and digital communication skills.

Effective organizational skills for productive tasks and time management.

Commitment to self-development and technical proficiency.

Must provide own transportation for travel to various locations (reimbursable).
