Job Details:

We are seeking a highly competent and experienced Permanent Controller to join our dynamic team in the energy industry. The ideal candidate will be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with a strong background in financial management, accounting, and tax management. This role requires the ability to manage and oversee all aspects of our financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, financial statements, and auditing. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with an analytical mind, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of financial regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  2. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
  3. Reconcile the company’s bank statements, bookkeeping records, and ledgers to ensure accuracy.
  4. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  5. Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  6. Support month-end and year-end close process.
  7. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  8. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  9. Verify receipts, income tax returns, financial statements, ledgers, and other financial documents to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  10. File and remit taxes, including income tax returns and other financial obligations in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  1. Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation required.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and financial management roles.
  3. Proven working experience as a Financial Controller in the energy industry.
  4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  5. Experience with creating financial statements and tax management.
  6. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills, particularly with Sage Accounting.
  7. Proficiency in reconciliation, verification, and documentation of financial data.
  8. Strong understanding of bank statements, ledgers, and income tax returns.
  9. Exceptional knowledge of risk analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  10. Strong leadership qualities and a team-oriented mindset.
  11. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  12. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  13. Strong analytical and strategic planning skills.
  14. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  15. Proven ability to manage and motivate a team.
