Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 per year

A bit about us:

We are currently seeking an experienced National Purchasing Agent to join our team in the Construction industry. This role is integral to ensuring the smooth operation and continued growth of our company. You will be responsible for managing and overseeing all purchasing activities across our national operations, with a focus on residential construction and home building. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent negotiation skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple projects at once. We are looking for a Senior Purchasing Agent with over 6+ years of experience. You will be a part of a team of 3 agents, 1 manager, and a Division Director.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the entire purchasing process for all construction materials, equipment, and services across national operations.
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely delivery of products and services.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, builders, and subcontractors to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to achieve the best possible prices and terms.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to understand and meet project requirements.
  • Regularly review and assess vendor performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine areas of improvement.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and submittals, and manage the approval process.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchases, including cost analyses, delivery times, and vendor performance.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements to ensure the company is utilizing the most cost-effective and efficient materials and processes.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry, specifically with residential construction and home building.
  • Proven experience in project management, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills, with a proven track record of successful cost negotiations.
  • Solid understanding of construction materials, their uses, and their cost structures.
  • Excellent vendor management skills, with experience building and maintaining relationships with vendors and builders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, including project management and procurement software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
