Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced IT Hardware Break Fix Engineer (HPC, networking, servers, storage, data systems) to join our progressive technology team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving our high-performance computing (HPC) systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. This role will involve working with a variety of hardware, including compute, storage, and network devices, in a data center environment. Responsibilities:

  1. Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of hardware systems in a data center environment, including compute, storage, and network devices.
  2. Ensure the optimal operation of Linux-based high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
  3. Conduct regular system checks to identify potential hardware issues before they become critical.
  4. Work closely with other IT teams to coordinate hardware installations, upgrades, and migrations.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all hardware systems, including system configurations, maintenance activities, and incident reports.
  6. Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders on hardware-related issues.
  7. Stay current with the latest hardware technologies and industry trends, and make recommendations for system improvements and upgrades.
  8. Implement and adhere to best practices for hardware maintenance and management to ensure system reliability and security.
  9. Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Active Department of Energy (DoE) Q Clearance or have held one in the past 3 years.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  3. A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT hardware support, particularly in a data center environment.
  4. Strong knowledge of Linux operating systems and high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
  5. Proven experience in hardware break-fix, including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of compute, storage, and network devices.
  6. Excellent technical skills, including a strong understanding of system architectures and hardware components.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware issues.
  8. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  9. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  10. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  11. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Current industry certifications (such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Linux+) are a plus.
