Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to join our team in the Engineering industry. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities of the company. This includes the development and management of budgets, preparation of financial statements, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The successful candidate will also be instrumental in strategic planning, cash flow management, and financial forecasting. The position requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all company accounting practices, including accounting departments, preparing budgets, financial reports, tax and audit functions.
  2. Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with CEO, COO and the leadership team.
  3. Supervise investment and cash management strategies.
  4. Oversee the capital structure of the company, determining the best mix of debt, equity and internal financing.
  5. Work towards the strategic financial objectives of the company.
  6. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  7. Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports required by regulatory agencies.
  8. Develop internal control guidelines, policies and procedures for budget accounting, cash and credit management, administration, and other activities.
  9. Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, report variances and develop corrective actions.
  10. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. A Master’s degree or CPA certification is highly preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, within the Engineering industry.
  3. Proven experience in strategic planning, risk management and change management.
  4. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  5. Strong knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  6. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  7. Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  8. Proficiency in accounting software and related tools.
  9. Ability to work with large volumes of data and to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers.
