Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced leader to oversee patient safety and clinical risk management. Responsibilities include managing critical risk projects, implementing new processes for safety, and maintaining compliance with industry changes.
Essential Responsibilities:
Leadership & Development:
Promote continuous learning, mentor staff, and foster internal collaboration. Manage recruitment, performance, and talent development.
Operations Management:
Oversee multiple units, ensure alignment with business strategies, and manage resources efficiently.
Quality Improvement:
Serve as an expert on clinical quality processes and regulations. Lead compliance initiatives and educational programs.
Complaint & Review Process:
Direct quality of care complaints, investigations, and documentation. Ensure consistent application of policies.
Infection Control:
Lead infection prevention programs, manage outbreak protocols, and advise on infection control measures.
Risk Management:
Develop corrective action plans, conduct root cause analyses, and oversee health outcome analysis.
Patient Safety:
Manage significant events, safety hazards, and develop patient care programs.
Program Development:
Maintain stakeholder relationships, set standards for quality improvement, and advocate for strategic opportunities.
Data Management:
Utilize data to monitor and improve performance, interpret statistical analysis, and guide strategy.
Regulatory Compliance:
Lead regulatory audits, maintain compliance with standards, and ensure continuous survey readiness.
Cost Effectiveness:
Evaluate medical care cost-effectiveness, partner with stakeholders, and resolve patient treatment concerns.
Qualifications:
Experience:
2+ years managing operational or project budgets.
7+ years in a leadership role.
5+ years with databases and spreadsheets.
4+ years delivering training programs.
7+ years in clinical setting or health care administration.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field with 7+ years in healthcare, or 10+ years of experience in healthcare.
Certifications:
Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) within 24 months of hire.
Professional Healthcare Quality Certification within 24 months of hire.
Must be RN CPHRM certified.
Additional Requirements:
Acute care hospital experience.
TEAM Stepps experience.
Knowledge of healthcare compliance, quality standards, risk management, and infection control.
Preferred: California accreditation, regulation, and licensing experience, joint commission, and CMS survey experience.
Position Overview:
Responsible for risk management and patient safety at a large medical center (429 beds).
Leads Situation Management Team for patient safety incidents.
Oversight of TeamSTEPPS & Just Culture planning and implementation.
Manages DMC Patient Safety Data Center.
