DutiesYou will provide program guidance to Installation Commanding Officers and Security Specialists throughout NDW Region.You will adjudicate derogatory information to determine Personnel Security clearance eligibility.You will interpret and apply agency directives, policies, manuals, regulations or instructions to develop guidelines for security programs.You will maintain the command's security database and personnel security files allowing rapid access to data pertaining to the clearance level and special access status of all command members.You will use regulations to establish and manage security programs pertaining to Personnel Security, Physical Security, Information Security or other security related areas.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentThis position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.Must be a US Citizen.Must be determined suitable for federal employment.Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty.Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test is required.QualificationsYour resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the

grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

1) Administering, organizing and managing the personnel, information and industrial security program; 2) Provide advice and assistance to management when security issues are complex, difficult and controversial; 3) Uses security databases and systems including JPAS, DISS Portal, EQUIP to manage personnel security investigations and clearances; and 4) Oversees industrial security requirements for classified contracts for DOD contractors in accordance with the National Industrial Security Manual.EducationThis job does not have an education qualification requirement.Additional informationThis position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
