We are seeking an exceptional and experienced leader to drive transformation, foster collaboration, and champion excellence in regulatory services.Engage in strategic planning initiatives and take charge of the daily management and leadership of the statutory planning and building services divisions, actively shaping and influencing the sustainable development landscape of our vibrant City.Offer expert assistance to the Director Planning, actively steering the day-to-day management and operations of our Planning Directorate. Ensure seamless alignment of planning and building functions with the Council's strategic vision and legal obligations, contributing significantly to our City's dynamic growth.As part of this role, you will be responsible for:Leading, managing, and mentoring the Statutory Planning and Building Services team, ensuring effective operations and delivery of regulatory services within the City of Melville.Sustaining collaborative and harmonious work teams through clear leadership, direction, and continuous improvement initiatives.Delivering clear communication of key organisational objectives and strategies, ensuring staff are informed and engaged.Fostering high performance, and ensuring timely and customer-centric responses that embody the principles of our Customer First approach.Exercising sound political acumen in providing expert advice and technical support to senior management, staff, Council, and advisory bodies on Statutory Planning and Building Services matters, including policy, procedures, and practices.To be successful in this role, you will have:Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or a relevant discipline.Eligibility for full membership to the Planning Institute of Australia.Extensive experience in town planning and building management, with comprehensive knowledge of statutory procedures and legislation in a local government context.Demonstrated effective and contemporary leadership, fostering collaborative and harmonious work teams.Current National Police Clearance, or willingness to obtain.Current 'C' Class Driver’s Licence.To learn more about the role and how it aligns with your career aspirations, please refer to the Position Description.
