Variable hours available between 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

What You Will Do

Must be physically capable of assisting passengers boarding and disembarking the vehicle.* Job requires drivers to stand, lift and carry up to 35 Ibs, lean, and kneel.* Physically able to transport passenger using wheelchair, scooter, or other mobility device.* Safely operate the lift and demonstrate proper tie-down securement techniques.

Must enjoy working with the public, particularly seniors and persons with disabilities.

Must be comfortable driving 12 passenger vans & buses.

Must be able to perform all functions related to safe vehicle operation.

Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Report problems immediately.

Pick up daily route sheet, rider roster, and other pertinent route information.

Must be familiar with Lincoln, Lancaster County, possess good map reading skills, and a good sense of direction.

Must attend and successfully complete mandatory driver training sessions as scheduled.

Must work in a cooperative team setting, contributing occasional evening and weekend shifts when necessary. (Special programs, tours, and trips.)

Maintains a clean and orderly vehicle. Reports to office when outside of vehicle needs to be washed.

Maintains forms, reports, maps in vehicle notebook. Includes first aid supplies.

QualificationsMinimum age of 18Possess and maintain a current Nebraska Driver's License with an excellent driving history.Adhere to the City of Lincoln and Federal Transportation Associations Drug & Alcohol Policies and Procedures. This includes a pre-employment drug & alcohol screen and participation in the DOT random testing pool.Must pass local and national Criminal History checks.

Temporary, on call, and seasonal positions with the City are not eligible for benefits.

In accordance with Federal Transit Administration and Department of Transportation Regulations, each individual conditionally hired for a safety sensitive position is subject to mandatory drug and alcohol testing. Any applicant who refuses or fails to execute the City/County's general consent and release form to be drug and alcohol tested, who refuses or fails to execute the City/County's authorization to obtain past drug and alcohol test results forms, who refuses or fails to submit to a pre-employment/pre-duty drug and alcohol test as directed, or whose result is positive for either test, will not be considered eligible to work for the City/County. Existing workers who test positive will not be considered qualified for the position for which they are applying and will also be subject to the City/County discipline, up to and including discharge.All pre-employment job applicants covered by this policy who test positive will not be hired. Any applicant has the right to have their original split sample retested (by a DHHS certified laboratory, the original laboratory will follow approved transfer procedures) at their expense, if requested in writing to the City/County Personnel Administrator within 72 hours of the final result provided by the Medical Review Officer. If upon retest the results are found to be negative, the City/County will reimburse the costs involved with the retest.
