Job Details

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance & Engineering, the Maintenance Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving the day-to-day performance of process and packaging operational reliability as measured by overall equipment effectiveness, through analysis of maintenance planning effectiveness, application of problem solving techniques, machine operational analysis, technical training, and application of predictive maintenance principles.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works with process engineering, training, and operations to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
  • Develops technical training plans for Operator Based Maintenance including skills matrix and competency assessments.
  • Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans to insure maintainability and reliability of the equipment.
  • Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
  • Participates in the final check-out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, and controls systems
  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes:

• Value-added preventive maintenance tasks

• Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems

  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility, the reliability engineer applies:
  • Data analysis techniques that can include:

• Statistical process control

• Reliability modeling and prediction

• Fault tree analysis

• Root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause failure analysis (RCFA)

  • Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 3-10 years previous maintenance reliability engineering experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Proven ability to work with process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee development
  • Proficiency using a PC and Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent mathematical, verbal and analytical skills
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to speak to a diverse audience spanning from staff to executive levels
  • Demonstrated ability to train, motivate and communicate with all levels of the production organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting of diversity.
  • Ability and means to travel if needed; must possess a valid driver’s license and proof of valid insurance including liability and property damage coverage

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified CMRP or CMRT
  • 3-5 years of experience in CPG and/or FDA-regulated manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency using Auto-Cad
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma training and experience
