Application Support Analyst

will be a member of the Transit Applications Team in the IT Department. The candidate will be responsible for learning the applications supported, level 2 & 3 user support, minor programming tasks, extensive pre-release testing, and other support tasks for enterprise-wide applications. These include but are not limited to applications that track vehicle maintenance, facilities and Maintenance of Way, and the application that supports warehouse and stockroom activities.Duties and ResponsibilitiesLearn off-the-shelf applications largely via self-study, both from the users' perspectives and the support team perspectiveWork with users to resolve tiers 2 and 3 application or technical problemsWork with users to define business requirements; define and implement processes for these requirementsPerform systems testing on enhancements, upgrades, or modification projectsPrepare detailed report specifications for reports requested by usersWrite and test requested reports utilizing Crystal Reports, SQL language, or other query toolsTrain users on application functions, features and operationsWrite or provide succinct production documentation as requiredTroubleshoot and identify root cause analysis for systems issuesMinimum Experience and Required SkillsA Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field;Four (4) years of experience in information systems programming and analysis including design, development, and implementation;Three (3) years of experience working with relational data bases (Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server)Three (3) years hands-on experience writing SQL queries with multiple tables;Effective organizational and analytical skillsHands-on experience with relational data basesHands-on experience with complex SQL queriesAbility to learn complex applications from both the user perspective and the administrative/back end perspective
