One of the largest privately held real estate investment and property management groups in Southside Chicago, IL, with over 30 years in the industry and managing 28+ million square feet of commercial and industrial properties, is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join their team. This is an onsite position with flexible work hours. Occasional work-from-home days are permitted, but this is not a hybrid or remote position.

Experience with Yardi and CAM reconciliation is essential.

Job Details:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Property Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in all aspects of property accounting and have a strong understanding of Yardi software. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated team of professionals in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Property Accountant will play a critical role in the company's financial management, including the handling of daily operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and manage the full cycle of accounting activities for a portfolio of properties.
  2. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  3. Conduct budgeting and forecasting activities, and provide variance analysis to help guide business decisions.
  4. Handle the reconciliation of bank and general ledger accounts.
  5. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  6. Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
  7. Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting processes and procedures.
  8. Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
  9. Utilize Yardi software to automate, track, and analyze financial data.
  10. Assist with annual audits and provide support to external auditors as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or CPA certification is preferred.
  2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting is required.
  3. Proven experience with Yardi software is a must.
  4. Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
  5. Excellent analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  6. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly strong capabilities in MS Excel.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  10. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
  11. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
