We are in search of a highly experienced head of HR to replace our incumbent who is retiring. The position supports an organization of 85 full-time employees, including a field staff of 55 technicians, most unionized – plumbers, sewer and drain technicians; HVAC technicians; and electricians.
The role reports to the company owner.
Key Responsibilities:
Develops and implements an HR Strategic Plan with annual goals and measures, which delivers the structure, resources, skill sets and human resources processes and programs necessary to support the organization’s growth and high performance.
Provides expertise and counsel to management team in dealing with employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with all labor laws and statutory requirements.
Develops and implements processes in the areas of performance management and skill development.
Designs and manages base and variable pay programs, which drive higher individual and team performance, ensuring internal equity and marketplace competitiveness.
Develops a uniform recruitment strategy that supports the goal of lowest cost, best hire for the given position. Build structures that ease administration burden and shorten cycle time in these areas.
Designs and administers the benefits design and administration for non-union employees.
Develops appropriate organization development and change management initiatives that support Ravinia’s growth and development.
Recommends and develops initiatives that increase retention and employee engagement.
Develops and/or recommends training initiatives that address the needs of the organization. Conduct needs assessment, determine whether delivery should be in-house versus outsourced; evaluate the quality of training at its completion.
Serves as a change agent, helping to drive cultural change to support delivery of the business goals.
Evaluates existing policies and recommends appropriate modifications or changes to ensure on-going competitiveness and compliance.

Requirements:
Demonstrated credibility as a human resources leader capable of guiding a mid-size company through growth and change.
Thorough knowledge of all aspects of human resources management, including policies and practices, as well as benefit and compensation programs. HR generalist, with 10 to 20 years’ experience.
Track record of working effectively with the management team, as well as demonstrated experience in providing people related advice/counsel to a CEO/President.
SHRM-SCP or HCPI certification
Undergraduate degree in business or human resources; MBA preferred
Experience in a multi-employer union environment a strong plus
Microsoft Office applications
