The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center is seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide comprehensive, efficient, compassionate, high-quality healthcare to all veterans, functioning as a member of the inter-disciplinary team providing clinical care to the veterans. Responsibilities Providing medical evaluation and directing overall management of patients in collaboration with the other members of the health care team. Obtaining a comprehensive health history and performing a physical examination on all patients who present to the Oncology/Hematology clinic or other assigned clinical area. Ordering and entering diagnostic studies and interpreting laboratory tests, EKG, and radiology diagnostic tests (CXR, CT scan, PET, MRI). Attending, participating, and presenting at weekly Tumor Board. Collaborating and consulting with other providers and members of the healthcare team for confirmation of diagnosis and treatment of Hematology/Oncology patients. Documenting initial visits, follow-up visits, procedures performed, problem lists, procedure lists, and making interval progress notes in Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). Providing feedback and patient education to patients and their families. Participating in equitable call coverage on a rotating basis with other providers in the Hematology/Oncology clinic. Qualifications To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved school. Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program. Proficiency in spoken and written English. Preferred Experience Two years of experience in Hematology/Oncology, Board certified/eligible.
