Overview:
To develop and manage a team of process and chemical engineering professionals capable of quality process design and analysis to effectively strengthen Bowman's reputation and expertise within the metal and industrial minerals processing industry.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Direction:
Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
Role will work directly with VP Mining/Regional Manager to mature vision for company growth within the mining industry.
At the Operational and Company Level:
Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.
Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships.
Do the Work:
Development and management of a team of process and chemical engineers for service of hard rock base/precious metals and industrial minerals with long term vision for growth in mind.
Select and hire designers and engineers in alignment with vision to achieve process engineering excellence in the mining and minerals industry.
Select and make recommendations around strategic tools (software etc.) to benefit Clients and grow mining sector opportunities.
Prepare and direct preparation of process models, project flow sheets, design criteria and equipment data sheets.
Support development of piping and instrumentation diagrams (PIDs) in collaboration with discipline engineers.
Authoring of feasibility study report appropriate sections (NI 43-101, SK1300 etc.) and ability to act as qualified professional.
Provide strategic analysis and insight into project optimization including ideas around cost savings, operating cost reduction, plant efficiency etc.
Ability to specify metallurgical testwork programs in support of project development as well as ability to analyze resulting data to determine optimal process design and path forward.
Maintain healthy client relationships and possess solid operational insight for driving projects and executing deliverables.
Maintain close relationships with clients to resolve all project questions including technical requirements, completion requirements and billing inquiries.
Assist with marketing presentations and attend marketing meetings with ability to articulate competency and demonstrate Bowman as a strong, technical design firm for mining process plant projects.
Assist team leader in securing repeat business from existing clients and identifying new clients.
Supervise work of project personnel to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards.
Liaise with clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on projects.
Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems including field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, detailed review of design computations done by others and general coordination of design aspects.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mineral processing, or extractive metallurgy or equivalent.
Ten or more (10+) years of experience within the mineral processing industry servicing a broad range of types of minerals and metals (i.e. Copper, Gold, Silver, Lead, Zinc, Molybdenum, Lithium, Rare Earths, Cement etc.) as well as common metallurgical processes.
Team management experience preferred.
Registered Professional engineer or qualified professional in field of expertise.
Experience within engineering consulting firm as well as process plant operations preferred but not required.
Experience in development of feasibility studies (NI 43-101, SK1300 etc.) as qualified professional for process.
Knowledge of AutoCAD.
Proficiency in process modeling software packages such as METSIM, JKSimMet.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Partly indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
Mobility around an office environment.
Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Partly outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
