Position SummaryThe Senior Android Mobile Developer performs development, testing, optimization, maintenance, delivery, and documentation of JetBlue's sophisticated customer-facing mobile applications involving both front and backend components. This role collaborates with various teams for significant research, analysis, and architecture of business solutions. The Senior Android Mobile Developer develops and maintains innovative, scalable solutions which provide value to the business and provides operational support as required.Essential ResponsibilitiesDevelop, design, code, debug, and document Android mobile applications using Kotlin and Java, adhering to best practices and industry standardsUnderstanding and integrating a wide variety of back-end services including RESTful application programming interfaces (APIs), WebSockets, and GRPCAbility to consume and produce service responses in multiple formats including JSON, XML, and ProtobufDesign, write, and implement unit tests and end-to-end tests for Android applications using JUnit, Espresso, or similar frameworksProvide input and guidance on development and architecture decisions; collaborate with and mentor other engineers to ensure best practices are followedAnalyze system specifications and create project estimates for Android development tasksParticipate in code reviews to ensure high-quality and consistent coding practices across the teamPartner with data center operations and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless deployments, proper documentation, and support for Android applicationsEnsure that JetBlue IT and business standards and procedures are maintained in accordance with company policies and that work practices comply with all audit, security, and regulatory requirementsEnsure continued accountability for product and services delivery within assigned business units and across ITEnsure quality and performance standards are met for Android applications, ensuring a seamless user experiencePartner with Manager and other IT Managers to ensure alignment and drive efficiencies across projects and teamsProvide direct or indirect oversight of delivery teams for applicable portfolio initiativesTake a significant role in leading and coaching direct team and/or indirect crewmembers to support the engagement, growth, and development of Succession plan for the IT departmentPerform other duties as assigned, supporting the overall objectives and mission of the IT department
Minimum Experience and QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experienceFour (4) years in an Android Mobile Developer role, with experience coding in Kotlin and Java; understanding and integrating back-end services; consuming and producing service responses; and full testing for Android applicationsExperience with RESTful services, JSON, and SOAP-based servicesExperience using GitDemonstrated ability to code complex designs in a modular, well-architected manner; experience with responsive/adaptive design, and efficient middleware communicationCandidates must demonstrate coding skills in a work sample assessmentAvailable for moderate overnight travel (up to 35%)In possession of valid travel documents with the ability to travel in and out of the United StatesAble to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short noticeMust pass a pre-employment drug testMust be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is locatedAuthorization to work in the US is required. Preferred Experience and QualificationsTwo (2) years of experience with AngularJS and some experience with AngularJS 6 or higher, as well as two (2) years of experience with Java, with knowledge of Java 8 and above, as well as Java Reactive ExtensionsThorough knowledge of business function and thorough knowledge of business operations, objectives and strategiesPrevious knowledge with micro service development using GRPC and websocketsBenchmarking experience of services as a whole, from the front to the back-end technologyKnowledge of omnichannel customer experiences across kAndroidks, mobile, and web platformsExposure to JetBlue's IT disciplines and interdependenciesExposure to JetBlue's business units and how their needs drive IT strategyWorking on enterprise-wide budget process

Compensation:The base pay range for this position is between $105,600.00 and $150,400.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
