About this role:
The Senior Controls Software Engineer will handle documentation and programming of building automation systems (BASs) in compliance with project plans and specifications. Proactive communication with project stakeholders including requests for information and technical risks and opportunities. Mentorship of less experienced Software Engineers in all areas of their development.
Key Responsibilities:
Creation, where necessary, of sequences of operation for the control of all building systems.
Site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system (using SiteBuilder).
Programming of control algorithms including those that include third-party integration (using Eikon).
Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems (using Eikon and ViewBuilder).
Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment.
Assist with functional testing (commissioning) of complex building systems such as chiller plants and large integrations where necessary
Setup and execution of factory witness tests for projects which require them.
Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and implementation.
Technical support during the selling process to ensure that sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose the best possible solutions.
Mentorship and development of other Software Engineers.
Identification and communication of project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical considerations.
Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and project teams both internal and external.
Adherence to safety standards. High regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline.
5+ years’ experience programming software and graphics for commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS).
3+ years of experience working with third-party communication protocols used in building automation (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.), with the proven ability to design and troubleshoot integrations with the same.
OR –
High School Diploma.
7+ years’ experience programming software and graphics for commercial Building Automation Systems (BAS).
3+ years of experience working with third-party communication protocols used in building automation (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, SNMP, LON, N2, etc.), with the proven ability to design and troubleshoot integrations with the same.
Preferred Qualifications:
Able to understand, write, and recommend modifications to sequences of operations for the automation of all building systems.
Able to write and suggest modifications to existing sequences of operations for common HVAC systems and control methodologies.
Strong understanding of enterprise IP networks, including layout and troubleshooting.
Thoroughly understands electrical and mechanical building systems.
Capable of programming the most complex projects executed by Automated Logic.
Competent, proactive verbal and written communicator, able to translate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Able to provide direction and guidance to other team members.
Well organized and able to balance multiple concurrent priorities by communicating and negotiating due dates and deliverables with the project teams.
Able to condense complex technical information into a comprehensive and clear set of design documents in a way that is easily understood and followed by project teams.
Strong working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services.
Strong aptitude for problem solving even when troubleshooting remotely.
Strong time management skills including the ability to accurately estimate time required to complete tasks and deliver on the committed timeline.
Competency with Microsoft software including Windows, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Team player with a positive attitude.
Possess and maintain valid and current form of government issued identification.
Ability to report to assigned work location reliably.
Willingness and ability for occasional overnight travel is preferred.
