Application Engineer - MV Automation

About the role:
WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for an Application Engineer to join our team in Duluth, GA. This position is under our Automation division and is the primary technical & commercial resource for the field sales team and customer base. Responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sale process, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable, optimized solutions to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales and order processes. The Application Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers throughout the sales cycle.
Primary Responsibilities: Maintains expert level of product and application knowledge of MV VFDs and soft starters. Articulates product offering, positioning and capabilities to both business and technical users. Reviews and clarifies requests for quotations (specifications, emails, phone calls, etc.). Identifies project/customer details vital for determining quotation strategies and competitive strengths/weaknesses. Leads and takes ownership of the quotation/opportunity by learning customer needs/expectations and aligning them with WEGs product offering/capabilities. Proactively seeks opportunities for optimized, cost-saving solutions. Generates and presents proposals to customers and proactively requests feedback as appropriate. Uses knowledge of both the competitive landscape and that gained throughout the sales cycle to establish appropriate pricing levels. Actively participates in the order entry process including review of customer purchase order, generating order entry materials, participating in both internal and customer KOMs and relaying special requirements. Actively participates in the project management cycle assisting project managers with technical clarifications, drawing review and participating in customer meetings as required. Resolves customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values and financial objectives. Other duties and tasks as assigned. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar field or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge / training:
Knowledge of medium voltage VFDs / soft starters and an understanding of how to apply them in different applications and environments is required. Understanding of basic electric motor characteristics (HP, speed, torque) is required. Understanding how to select and size VFDs for different applications, including those requiring a VFD for starting duty only (synchronous transfer), is preferred. Moderate understanding of various industrial applications (compressors, pumps, mills, etc) is required. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, symbols and nomenclature is required. Moderate understanding of the sales process for engineered products (MV VFDs, soft starters, etc). Moderate understanding of OEMs, EPCs and Users of the industry assigned is required. Moderate knowledge of market and competitive landscape is preferred. Able to read, speak, understand and compose clear technical dialog in English is required. Proficient in MS Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is required.
Experience:
3+ years of related experience preferred.
