A day in your life at MKS:We are looking for an exceptional Principal Firmware Engineer to provide technical leadership in architecting and implementing embedded firmware for new FPGA and microcontroller based electronic products.You will make an impact byTaking responsibility for full-stack real-time embedded firmware development, including implementation and debugging of low-level device drivers, bootloaders, and algorithmsParticipating in the bring-up of new custom embedded processor hardware with support from hardware designersCreating design and test documents pertinent to the various phases of firmware developmentCollaborating with team members, including hardware designers, to identify software related requirements and develop corresponding software design strategies or architecture that meets those requirementsWorking with Project Managers, Optical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and with Reliability and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful achievement of project objectives and customer successSkills you bring:8+ years of related experience and a master's degree or 10 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree. Post-graduate coursework or degree is preferredExpertise with microcontroller and/or embedded processing platforms such as ARM and FPGA based SoCs. Experience with DSPs is a plus. Experience with analog components is a plusExpertise in developing original designs with C/C++ in embedded environments including bare-metal, multi-threaded RTOS, and embedded operating systems. Expertise in FPGA design, development, and implementation using Verilog or VHDL is highly desirableKnowledge of USB device classes and network protocols such as TCP/IP, FTP, UDP. EtherCAT knowledge is a plusStrong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer interaction and internal team collaboration skills and a can-do attitude are essentialProficiency with scripting languages such as Python and high-level programming languages such as LabVIEW, C# is a plusProficiency with web technologies - REST APIs, database design, client server paradigms - is a plusProficiency in understanding digital filter design concepts and translating offline algorithms into a real-time embedded system is a plusWe are interested in a qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we will not be sponsoring work visas for this position, at this time.Compensation and Benefits:Salary Pay Range: $97,300 to $180,700 per year.
