About the Role
Govplace is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team. We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to support our federal customers. The ideal candidate will offer extensive experience in designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and optimizing network solutions in a secure, high-availability environment. This role requires a deep understanding of network infrastructure, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of IT professionals including Sales, Executives, OEMs, and other industry partners.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and Implementation:
Develop, design, and implement network solutions that meet the requirements of the customer, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.Maintenance and Support:
Provide ongoing maintenance and support for network infrastructure, including troubleshooting and resolving network issues, performing upgrades, and ensuring network availability and reliability.Security and Compliance:
Ensure network solutions comply with federal security standards and regulations. Implement security measures to protect network integrity and data confidentiality.Documentation:
Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, status reports, and standard operating procedures.Collaboration:
Work closely with federal customers, project managers, and other IT teams to understand requirements, provide technical guidance, and deliver effective network solutions.Monitoring and Optimization:
Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize network operations to improve efficiency and performance.Innovation:
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Recommend and implement new solutions to enhance network performance and security.Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience. Minimum Associate level certifications required in Cisco and/or Aruba networking (e.g., CCNA, ACSA).Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3 years in a federal environment or Law Enforcement.Technical Skills:
Proficiency in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, Virtualization Platforms, Performance Monitoring, PNs, and network security protocols.Product/Solution Experience:
Must have strong switching experience with both Cisco and Aruba products including CX10000, 6300M, 6200M, ISE, ClearPass, and NetEdit. Familiarity with network automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) and with cloud networking solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Capable of diagnosing and resolving complex network issues.Teamwork:
Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Experience collaborating with diverse teams.Travel:
Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time.Work authorization/security clearance requirements
The ability to obtain a security clearance is required for this role.Great to Have
Existing/valid professional or architect tier certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, ACSP, ACSX).Existing or recent federal agency EOD or clearance.
