Position Overview
Come join the Autodesk Tandem product team to transform how buildings are designed, built, and operated. Up to 50% of operational carbon emissions come from buildings, and 30% of energy is wasted due to poor design and operating decisions. At Autodesk Tandem, we're on a mission to make the world better by empowering building operators with their data. Autodesk is hiring a Senior Principal Software Engineer and Architect who has experience building (design + development) modern cloud services. You will report to the Director of Tandem Insights in this remote position.
Responsibilities
Design a new cloud-based software system for data analytics, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
Accelerate a new team's development by diving in and writing code. Take a hands-on approach to propel progress throughout the product lifecycle
Conduct code reviews to maintain high code quality standards, and mentor team members on best practices
Partner with developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to turn high-level requirements into product enhancements that are delivered to customers incrementally and continually
Document and present your ideas and solutions accurately and thoroughly to a variety of audiences
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or similar field
12+ years of hands-on experience in software development
Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, along with a deep understanding of software design principles and patterns
Proven ability to design and architect scalable, reliable, secure distributed systems
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and to articulate complex technical concepts clearly
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building production data streaming pipelines
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other building systems data
Experience with Go, Python, React/JavaScript, WebGL
Experience building, deploying, and orchestrating containerized workloads on AWS

Salary transparency
Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $160,800 and $260,150. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
