ABOUT THE ROLE:

Stanford’s Administrative Data Governance Program seeks a Data Governance Architect to curate data assets in our Collibra-based Data Governance Center repository (DGC) for our community of analysts and decision-makers. Our repository includes identification of data lineage, cataloging data, data quality, security, privacy and compliance requirements, and other data attributes.

The architect will lead technical implementation of tools to harvest metadata and data lineage into the DGC for system enhancement projects, and the development of new systems.

Using our data governance operating model to coordinate the activities of business partners, data stewards, data managers, project teams, and other technical resources, the architect will build governance during the migration of subject area data assets to cloud and data lake architectures.

The Data Governance Architect will report to the Data Governance Program Director.

CORE DUTIES:

Provide frameworks, best practices, and subject matter expertise in Collibra required to deliver effective data governance and management solutions in our Data Governance Center.

Work with technology and business partners to implement solutions for harvesting metadata and data lineage; documenting data assets to Stanford’s Data Governance Center and ensuring infrastructure supports governance activities.

Translate business and technical requirements into Collibra designs, implement, and validate outcomes with users.

Align Data Governance Center implementation with Stanford’s data governance operating model.

Assess, recommend, and implement capabilities using Collibra and other tools related to business and technical metadata, data lineage, data profiling, data quality improvement efforts, and issue/request management in Stanford’s Data Governance Center.

Install, configure, and test metadata and lineage extraction harvesting software connecting systems to the Data Governance Center.

Develop and deliver training materials, use case and asset model documentation, as well as implementation specification.

Recommend curation processes for high quality Data Governance Center content in Collibra.

Support the implementation, maintenance, and extension of end-to-end data governance processes and tools including the Data Governance Center and its connections to source systems.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Advanced analytical, problem solving, negotiation and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to multitask, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data environments, distill concepts and communicate results in a clear and understandable manner meeting user requirements.

Strong listening, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external customers.
