TravelGeneral Information:Hospital Information:Inpatient: 353 Fairmont Blvd. Rapid City, SD 57701Outpatient: 955 East North Street, Suite 200, Rapid City, SD 57701RNs will be expected to float between the Inpatient and Outpatient areasDialysis Unit Information:Inpatient: Unit Chairs: 7 Chairs AND Portable (bedside) dialysis machinesOutpatient: Chairs: 36 chairs (4 of the chairs are isolation rooms); Patient scheduling software: ScheduleWiseOperation:Inpatient: Monday – Saturday; On call dialysis nurse for night coverage and SundayOutpatient: Monday – Saturday; 2.5 patient shifts a dayRequired Experience:Dialysis experience: At least two years Hemodialysis dialysis experienceTravel experience required: Yes; at least (1) 13-wk assignmentPatient Types:Inpatient: Acute and chronic dialysis patients admitted to the hospital; CRRT and plasmapheresis not completed by dialysis nursesOutpatient: Chronic dialysis patientsPatient Ratios:Inpatient:

1:2 to 3 depending on staffing and acuity; Bedside: 1:1Outpatient: 1:8 patientsPartnered with either two dialysis technicians or 1 dialysis technician and one licensed practical nurse (LPN)Daily Staffing/Support within Department:Inpatient:1 charge nurse2 staff nurses1 bedside nurse (Upon staffing availability)1 nurse on callMonday – Saturday: Night callSunday: 24-hour callOutpatient:1 charge nurse4 staff nurses1 isolation/float nurse: based upon staffing availability8 dialysis technicians and/or LPNsEducation:Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursingRegistered Nurse (RN) License: South Dakota or compact stateSkills Required:Hemodialysis experienceMust be competent in accessing and troubleshooting fistulas/graftsRequired Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS): RequiredDL required – will float between facilitiesCharting System/Equipment:EPIC – requiredFresenius 2008T BlueStar Hemodialysis Machine (preferred)WRO 300/300H Portable Reverse Osmosis System (preferred)Floating:Will be expected to float between both inpatient and outpatientOrientation:One week of orientation (Over 36 hours required for first week of orientation for training purposes)General hospital and department orientation: 1 day (8 hours)Three staff shiftsScheduling:Call Required: One on call shift a weekMonday – Saturday: 12-hour night call (2000-0800)Could be after a working shift but doesn’t haveSunday: 24-hour call (0800-0800)You will be scheduled off work the day your call endsResponse Time? 30 minutesWeekend Rotation:Every other SaturdayFriday is not a part of the weekendYou may be scheduled for Friday night call on your weekend offSunday is a part of the weekendIf it is your weekend to work, you may be scheduled for Saturday night or Sunday on call shiftsIf it is your weekend off, you will not be scheduled for Saturday night or Sunday on call shiftsApproval of time off: Manager approvalHolidays: Work all holidays if they fall within the week (clinic WILL be open). With the exception Thanksgiving and Christmas but will have to work a Sunday to make up for the holiday.
