Center for Care and Discovery .Performs diagnostic imaging studies as assigned. Applies principles of radiation protection. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of imagining procedures. Provides necessary patient care during the course of imaging procedures.UChicago Medicine

You have an opportunity to have a rewarding job and be an important part of an internationally recognized medical team caring for patients at a level 1 trauma center and Comprehensive Stroke Center.Essential Job FunctionsHas knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patientsPositions patientSelects proper technical factorsUtilizes computer to record patient statusFunctions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modalityAssists physician in performing imaging studiesPrepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists the physicianWorks independently in assigned areas as assignedPractices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patientsHandles patient in conformance with all established safety proceduresProcess images and patient records in conformance with all established operational proceduresRecognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiate life support measures where appropriateInstructs patient in exam proceduresIs aware of and responsive to physical and psychological needed of patients under his/her careMaintains technical imaging equipment in proper working conditionReports malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to appropriate personKeeps equipment and work area clean and neat according to current 5S standardsMaintains an adequate inventory of all necessary supplies utilizing established par levlsParticipates in continuing educational programs to maintain and upgrade technical skillsContributes to the orientation of new staff technologist and student technologist as requiredPerforms other duties as requestedRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school for radiologic technologistsCurrent certification by ARRT (VI) - Vascular Interventional and Licensure by the State of Illinois (IEMA).Additional skills sought include effective communication skills and ability to work effectively with other staff members who make up the team providing care to patientsTwo years of previous experience working in Interventional/Special Procedures setting is preferredPosition DetailsJob Type/FTE: 1.00, Full-timeShift: 7am-5:30pmCall Requirements- 6 to 7 weeks depending on the rotationUnit/Department: Rad Intervention
