Interventional Radiology Technologist

in the

Center for Care and Discovery .

Performs diagnostic imaging studies as assigned. Applies principles of radiation protection. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of imagining procedures. Provides necessary patient care during the course of imaging procedures.

Essential Job Functions

Has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients

Positions patient

Selects proper technical factors

Utilizes computer to record patient status

Functions proficiently with all technical equipment in diagnostic modality

Assists physician in performing imaging studies

Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assists the physician

Works independently in assigned areas as assigned

Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients

Handles patient in conformance with all established safety procedures

Process images and patient records in conformance with all established operational procedures

Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiate life support measures where appropriate

Instructs patient in exam procedures

Is aware of and responsive to physical and psychological needed of patients under his/her care

Maintains technical imaging equipment in proper working condition

Reports malfunctioning equipment or housekeeping issues to appropriate person

Keeps equipment and work area clean and neat according to current 5S standards

Maintains an adequate inventory of all necessary supplies utilizing established par levls

Participates in continuing educational programs to maintain and upgrade technical skills

Contributes to the orientation of new staff technologist and student technologist as required

Performs other duties as requested

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved school for radiologic technologists

Current certification by ARRT (VI) - Vascular Interventional and Licensure by the State of Illinois (IEMA).

Additional skills sought include effective communication skills and ability to work effectively with other staff members who make up the team providing care to patients

Two years of previous experience working in Interventional/Special Procedures setting is preferred

Position Details

Job Type/FTE: 1.00, Full-time

Shift: 7am-5:30pm

Call Requirements- 6 to 7 weeks depending on the rotation

Unit/Department: Rad Intervention
