Our faculty and staff are smart, dedicated people who work to create an excellent urban university experience for bright and motivated students.Job Summary:The Art + Design Studio Specialist is a professional with expertise and experience with Digital Fabrication studio equipment and procedures, as well as proficiency in specialized areas within Sculpture and Photography studios. With a strong focus on safety, the A+D Studio Specialist supports students and faculty in studio areas with complex and specialized equipment. This is a Part-Time position.Job Description:Supports student and faculty needs in the Digital Fabrication Lab and specialized areas within Sculpture and Photography studios;

Operates and assists students with Digital Fabrication Lab equipment during designated open studio hours including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC router and vinyl printers/cutters;

Works with students individually during open studio hours to facilitate use of specialized digital fabrication, sculpture and photography equipment for their class projects;

Supports area faculty on methods to incorporate and utilize Digital Fabrication Lab equipment throughout the Departmental curriculum;

Supports Art + Design coursework as well as individual student projects;

Works independently and in collaboration with area faculty and staff to oversee and organize the day-to-day operations, studio upkeep, equipment maintenance and maintenance schedule in the Digital Fabrication Lab;

Works independently and in collaboration with area faculty to oversee and organize the safety procedures and demonstrations of standard operating procedures of complex and specialized Digital Fabrication Lab equipment;

Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by area faculty, staff and Department Chair.

Minimal Qualifications:SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREDProficient with a variety of specialized digital fabrication equipment, specifically the laser cutter, CNC router and 3D printers;

Proficient with sculpture woodshop studio equipment, specifically table saws, bandsaws, circular saws and lathe;

Knowledge of specialized photography equipment, specifically lighting, cameras, large-scale printing and color management;

Proficient with Macintosh and PC computer systems as they relate to digital arts technology and digital fabrication equipment;

Knowledge of studio safety protocols and standard operating procedures of specialized and complex studio equipment;

Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail;

Experience working in an art and design higher education setting.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCEExperience with Letterpress and Risograph studio equipment;

Experience working in a culturally diverse academic environment;

Creative, energetic and responsible leadership skills in a strong student-centered environment;

Effective collaboration, interpersonal and communications skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum qualifications include a terminal Master's degree in an Art + Design related field, a minimum of one year of demonstrated expertise working in a Digital Fabrication Lab and additional experience with wood shop and photography equipment. The Specialist will have familiarity with overseeing equipment and safety protocols for a studio art facility in a higher education setting.(This position requires a background check.)Salary:
