Job Summary:

Develops and implements co-curricular programs that engage and encourage students to apply and integrate knowledge acquired in both curricular and co-curricular settings.

Collaborates with campus committees to advance Student Affairs and Enrollment Management initiatives through partnerships with faculty, administrators, staff, and students.

Works with advisory committees and task forces to review policies and procedures that improve the delivery of services. Encourages student participation in policy development.

Designs, implements, and conducts research on student interests, needs, and other issues as it relates to student development theory.

Disseminates information to academic and student services administrators, faculty, and students.

Prepares various reports and documents as requested on student populations.

Serves on University Committees as necessary to represent Student Affairs.

Plans, implements, and assesses new student orientation (Pirate Week), Welcome Week, Welcome Back Week Student, Homecoming Events, Spring Fest, and other events.

Prepares goals and objectives, annual reports, and documents long-range plans.

Charged with shaping the physical and psychological programs focusing on learning and development outcomes of knowledge acquisition, effective community engagement, intrapersonal development, interpersonal competence, humanitarianism and civic engagement, multi-cultural and cultural competency, and recreation.

Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of and commitment towards a rural campus environment.

Knowledge of current issues of student affairs practices.

Demonstrated ability to make difficult decisions.

Demonstrated effectiveness as a leader and student advocate.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree plus five to seven years of relevant higher education experience will be considered.

Must be proficient in MS Office and Internet.

Experience with student information system desired.

Experience with designing and planning, developing programs, and measuring outcomes for student services in an academic setting.

The ideal candidate must have excellent written, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, in addition to superior customer service abilities.

Demonstrated ability to multitask.

Must be able to maintain discretion in confidential matters.

Evening and weekend hours required.

Work Hours:

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. typically. However, this position requires great flexibility depending upon campus and student events.
