Position Overview
Responsible for planning, development, and implementation of all of SVT’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. This position reports to the SVT President/CEO and serves as a member of the management team. This position participates on internal and external committees as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance SVT’s image and position within the communities SVT serves and in the general public.
Responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring the success of SVT marketing, communications, and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, and so forth.
Ensure articulation of SVTs mission, vision and core values both internally and externally.
Act as the SVT representative with the media as directed by the President/CEO.
Build awareness of Tribal programs and services through consistent maintenance of relationships with community leaders and organizations, education system, judicial system and healthcare providers.
Research and analyze the technological, demographic, financial, regulatory and competitive facts that may affect the needs for Seldovia Village Tribe products, marketing methods and distribution systems.
Coordinate public relations activities to include recruitment, advertising and product releases to the media, customer newsletters.
Maintain relations with industry trade associations.
Prepare and update Seldovia Village Tribe marketing plans and reports. Maintain marketing records and files with copies of ads, promotions, printed brochures, etc.
Participate in strategic planning for Seldovia Village Tribe.
Promote teamwork within the Tribe and local communities.
Attend SVT Management Team and Monthly Staff meetings.
Perform or assist with other tasks as requested by CEO or Management Team.
Complete SVT Annual Report to the Community.
Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications, public relations, and Tribal Governance and use this information to help SVT operate with initiative and innovation.

Demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications, and public relations activities.
Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational, and personal sales skills.
Experience developing and managing budgets.
Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
Must possess the ability to self motivate to meet deadlines and reach goals.
Must possess great interpersonal and communication skills.
Must possess excellent business acumen with executive-level thinking.

Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree, required. Field of study: Public Relations, Marketing, or related. May substitute for work experience equivalent.
Experience:
2+ years experience in Public Relations and/or Marketing, required.
6+ months experience managing social media on behalf of a company or organization, preferred.
Certifications/Licensure:
None Required.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Mac computers, database systems, page layout, report creation, and creative programs such as photo editing. Must have experience in the creation of or internal management of websites.
Travel:
Travel required up to 30-45% of the time is required between Anchorage, Homer, Seldovia, and Anchor Point by car, boat, or plane. Overnight travel is required.
