LOCATION SUMMARY:
Located in Templeton amongst the oak trees, Adventist Health Twin Cities has been serving northern San Luis Obispo County since 1977. Comprised of a 122-bed acute care facility, our team provides exceptional care in emergency medicine, orthopedics, obstetrics, digestive disorders, wound care, and various medical, surgical and outpatient services. Locals enjoy weekly farmers markets in downtown Templeton, farm-to-fork dining, beautiful landscapes for hiking and biking, and beach days just fifteen minutes away at Cambria and Morro Bay.POSITION SUMMARY:While under the supervision of a licensed Speech Pathologist and as defined by American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA, is responsible for providing speech, language, and dysphagia services to patients to include; evaluations, planning individual patient care programs, treatments, and home programs.EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:Masters Degree in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders, required.LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:Current Provisional California license as a Speech Language Pathologist, required. Current BLS from the American Heart Association, required.SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:Knowledgeable of the principles and practices of communicative disorders including; dysphagia, and other disciplines. Ability to evaluate, plan and implement therapy including dysphagia rehabilitation program for individual patients. Ability to explain, demonstrate and teach speech and swallowing rehabilitative measures. Ability to work effectively with others in an inter-disciplinary team relationship. Ability to be self-directing and to seek direction and consultation as needed. Ability to express oneself clearly, verbally and in writing. Experience with ventilator dependent patients and Modified Barium Swallow studies desirable. Demonstrates competence within the scope of practice including age and condition appropriate considerations. Demonstrates personal and professional integrity and interest in growth and learning. Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills.PHYSICAL JOB CLASSIFICATION:Employee must meet physical and mental requirements as identified by the physical activity evaluation form.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:May be exposed to: Dust, Heat, Cold, Noise, Vibrations. Majority of the work is performed indoors protected from the elements.SUPERVISED: NATURE OF WORKAdministrative / Professional work.
