POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Systems Accountant is primarily responsible for accounting and reporting for Donor Advised Funds, supervising the donation receipting process, administering electronic giving/payments methodologies & platforms.

COMPENSATION
  • Full-time exempt position with benefits
  • Remuneration Range: 89-104% ($83k - $97k annually)

ESENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Supervises the donation receipting cashier.
  • Reviews bank reconciliations and:
    • prepares journal entries to clear outstanding items
    • follows up with payees of checks not deposited.
  • Initiates payment and accounting instructions for distributions from Donor Advised Fund after liaising with donor relations personnel.
  • Serves as administrator of electronic giving platforms (PayPal, Stripe, YourCause, Benevity, Fidelity, etc.,
  • Reconciles Donation Clearing and Anonymous Tithe clearing accounts.
  • Prepares reports for Strategic Planning & Budgeting Committee (1040 Window, Unusual Opportunities, Mission Impact Fund)
  • Assists the internal and external auditors as needed
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of process documentation.
  • Works with supervisor in the creation and monitoring of department key performance indicators.
  • Must maintain Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure once obtained.
  • Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Must maintain a regular and reliable work schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's (BA/BS) degree in accounting, business or equivalent required.
  • At least five years of relevant successful experience required. Denominational experience strongly preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. CPA-candidate will be eligible for promotion to Senior Systems Accountant when certification is achieved.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Requires well developed knowledge of church employment policies and practices.
  • Must exhibit extensive initiative; works with minimal supervision. Adaptable and able to evaluate priorities.
  • Ability to perform accounting duties in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Knowledge of up-to-date accounting and office procedures such as filing, telephone techniques, office equipment (including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel), and fluent in English language usage (including speaking, spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.).
  • Position requires high productivity and accuracy.
  • Must be able to facilitate good communications among departmental staff, other departments, and outside personnel.
