Must have 1 year of Med/Surg experience, ability to jump in and learn quickly.Advanced skills needed: Thorough assessment skills, prioritization skills, critical thinking, and time management.Procedures performed on unit include: General Medical/Surgical procedures and patient population including post-catheterizations without intervention, laparoscopic appendectomy/cholecystectomy, thoracentesis/paracentesis, special procedures performed by Interventional Radiology, dedicated Spine and Joint Unit, stable traumas, hemodialysis/peritoneal dialysis, continuous bladder irrigation, etc.Schedule Information

Scheduling requirements: At least one weekend within 4-week period. (May be split up) blocked scheduling case by case basis.Unit Specific Information

Unit Name: Med-SurgFloating policy: Floating within unit's discretion.Patient Experience requirements: At least 1 year of RN experience.Patient Break Down: all medical-surgical patients, orthopedic and spine patients on the designated floor, trauma patients, psych medical hold patients, etc.Dress Code: Grey Scrubs.Unit Guidelines/Policies: Provided upon pre-boarding.Awards/Recognition includes: ACS Certified, Hernia Center of Excellence, Spine & Joint Accredited, Unit of Distinction Honorable Mention 2022.Additional enticing information for workers: Bladder Scanners, New easy to use 12-Lead EKG machine, Using Teletracking for bed placement, MobiLab, Patient Keeper, Inspire App, Wound Capture.Facility has a very busy Med-Surg and Ortho/Spine unit with a great culture and teamwork within Med-Surg. A handful of nurses have been there for many years, supportive to questions and willing to help each other out, flexible scheduling and consistent communication with department leadership, opportunities for OT and incentives as appropriate.
