Executive Director of Professional Development, Evaluation & Leadership

The Providence Public School District (PPSD) serves approximately 22,000 students attending our 37 schools. PPSD employs more than 3,200 professionals who work in and provide support to our schools, which include 20 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 11 high schools, and 2 public district charter schools. Of our employees, approximately 2,000 are educators, and more than 600 others directly support students and families in our schools.The Executive Director of Professional Development, Evaluation, and Leadership will be responsible for the oversight and expansion of these three distinct areas of work. This role is housed in the Office of Human Resources and will report to the Chief Talent Officer for the district. The Executive Director will supervise a team of staff who work on matters related to professional development, new teacher induction training, evaluation of all district employees, leadership development, and support.The Executive Director will support PPSD in rolling out a robust set of training, tools, and resources for school leaders around supervision, providing just-in-time support to better understand supervision and evaluation needs; translating those needs into better tools and resources that can be deployed by the central office. This position is based out of the central administration office with an exact work location TBD. The work hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. This is a certified position.

Contingent upon funding .Example of Duties

Master's degree required.Experience in a large, urban district is preferred.Experience as a school leader and evaluator is preferred, although it isn’t required.Experience with the Rhode Island Innovation Evaluation and Support System is preferred, although it isn’t required.Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables, and navigate through a certain level of ambiguity.Sound planning and resource management skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.Self-starter who requires a minimum level of supervisory oversight.Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends.Demonstrated commitment to urban K-12 education.RIDE Requirement: RI Building Level Administrator K-12 Certification required.
