NOTE: Prefer candidate who are local or willing to relocate to MI Overview: The LAN/WAN Network Engineer Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) infrastructure, along with associated services. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hardware, software, and security mechanisms. The Network Engineer Team Lead will lead a team of engineers, mentor junior engineers, and engineer solutions for an outsourced operations third party, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and exceed stakeholder expectations. Key Responsibilities: Lead the Network Engineering team in the design, configuration, and maintenance of LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, wireless technologies, content delivery, and cloud access systems. Document network configurations, procedures, and policies in accordance with IT best practices, ensuring clear and organized records. Oversee network performance, making necessary optimizations and upgrades to ensure high availability and minimize downtime. Plan and execute network capacity initiatives, accounting for organizational growth and technology evolution, aligning with third-party providers' objectives and service agreements. Manage vendor relationships and serve as the primary technical contact for external communications related to network infrastructure, demonstrating exceptional collaboration and communication skills with the outsourced operations provider. Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, ensuring the delivery of exceptional results. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues efficiently, with a focus on mentoring junior engineers and imparting practical knowledge. Present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to manage expectations and collaborate with management and peers. Required Skills & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in LAN/WAN Network Engineering, including at least 3 years in a team lead or leadership role, with demonstrated expertise in managing network operations for outsourced third-party providers. Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, OSI model, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, and VLAN. Proficient in network hardware and software, such as Cisco, F5, Zscaler, and Akamai. Expertise in network architecture, design, and security best practices with a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
