JOB TITLE:Building Components Designer – Senior - Truss
JOB LOCATION:Lindon, UT
EXEMPTION STATUS:Salary (Exempt)
FUNCTION:The Truss Designer designs truss layouts in accordance to client specifications and SPC business objectives.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
Visualize, fulfil, and implement the company vision and core values.
Design roof and floor trusses using MiTek software and ensuring designs are accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards.
Generate and provide accurate pricing and material quantities for estimating purposes.
Generate truss placement layouts for final construction.
Reading and interpreting architectural and structural blueprints.
Communicate with customers, salesmen, architects, and engineers to ensure accuracy of design of trusses.
Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members.
Handle moderately complex issues and problems, and refer more complex issues to the manager.
Provide job-site support, with the aid of the sales department, when requested.
Attend and participate in all Company sponsored training programs as required.
Adhere to all safety protocols and Company policies and procedures.
Perform any other duties, responsibilities, or tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of floor and roof truss design process.
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprints.
Ability to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer through a building.
Knowledge of current local codes associated with truss design.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrate initiative and reliability with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrates high level of design capabilities and 3+ years experience in the truss industry.
Experience using MiTek, Alpine, InteliBuild, or ITW software preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work: extended periods of sitting.
Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Repetitive motion associated with operating a computer and other office equipment.
Visit jobsites occasionally.
