A prestigious law firm in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Trust and Estates Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in sophisticated income, estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in drafting estate planning documents and implementing wealth preservation strategies for high-net-worth individuals. This role involves working on complex matters such as business succession planning, family office planning, and probate and trust administration. The candidate should possess excellent academic credentials and prior law firm experience.DutiesProvide counsel on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning for high-net-worth individuals.Draft estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, and irrevocable trusts, such as intentionally defective grantor trusts.Assist with the preparation of IRS Form 709 (United States Gift and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Returns) and IRS Form 706 (Federal Estate Tax Returns).Develop and implement wealth preservation strategies, business succession planning, and family office planning.Work on probate and trust administration matters, including drafting and filing necessary legal documents.Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and staff in a team-oriented environment to deliver exceptional client service.Requirements2-5 years of experience in trust and estates law, with a focus on estate planning, gift, and transfer tax.Prior law firm private practice experience is required.Experience in drafting wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, and other estate planning documents.Strong legal research and writing capabilities.Experience with probate, trust administration, and tax return preparation is preferred.EducationJuris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.A degree in accounting, CPA license, or LL.M. in Tax is strongly preferred but not required, depending on experience.CertificationsActive license to practice law in the state of Georgia, or eligibility for admission.SkillsProficiency in estate planning, tax law, and wealth preservation strategies.Strong research, writing, and legal drafting abilities.Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
