About the Director of Human Resources Role:The Director of Human Resources supports the key functions of human resources on the Talent Team. This role is critical to the overall defining and implementation of a human resources service model. This role is critical to leading the organization in compliance and providing top tier customer service to our staff. The Director of HR will support the HR team in key outcomes including but not limited to successful completion of necessary annual activities and any other org initiatives. Furthermore, this role will lead all staff data reporting and tracking for staff, compliance, engagement and demographic data. This includes but is not limited to data sharing across regional leadership teams and tracking the team data with fidelity to share out more holistically at the end of the year. The Director of Human Resources will co-create and implement Talent and HR strategies, alongside the Senior Director of HR and the CPO, that will support KIPP Colorado in becoming a Talent leader in the nonprofit space. This full-time position is a part of our Home Office Team. We know that every student is different and we personalize learning based on a student's needs, skills, and interests.Role Responsibilities and More About How You’ll Spend Your Time in this Role:Professional Responsibilities:Believe deeply in the mission, values, and Race, Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (RIDE) commitments of KIPP Colorado Schools and that all children can and will learn.Assume personal responsibility for student achievement.Read, internalize, and adhere to the KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures manual and guidelines.Providing an active presence, strategic supervision, and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning.Take ownership for the development of your craft (meet 1x/1-2 weeks with a manager, implement feedback, engage in active practice, etc.).Commit to being prepared for lessons, coaching, meetings, etc.Meet professional obligations including and not limited to meeting deadlines and honoring schedules.Consistently leverage existing professional tools, including but not limited to Google Suite and Microsoft Suite.Maintain strong attendance each day and be on time to all responsibilities.Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement.Reflect on professional practices to meet individual professional development goals.Actively participate in professional development, grade level, and department meetings.Actively engage and implement in all school-wide and Org wide professional development.Serve as a positive, contributing member of a grade team or functional team.Share candid, solutions-oriented feedback with peers and leadership on a regular basis.Assist with both student and staff recruitment and engagement.Your role may require you to travel around Denver to other KIPP Campuses, our Home Office, or other KIPP or PD events.Other duties as assigned.Compliance:Ensures organization, leaders, and staff are operating in compliance with ethical, legal, and policy guidelines.Leads on licensure and ESSA compliance requirements.Leads on ensuring that KIPP Colorado staff members remain in compliance with mandatory trainings and requirements.Maintains a strong understanding of licensure and ESSA requirements.With the Talent Team, ensures all job descriptions are updated annually.Supports the human resources manager to ensure compliance with all employment requirements.Lead on the KIPP Colorado background check and screening process.Assure that KIPP Colorado remains in compliance with ADA mandates.Staff Facing Human Resources Support Areas:Leads on the improvement of the KIPP Colorado paid leave time off approaches.Assure that all KIPP Colorado staff members are informed about our PTO programs.Support the Senior Director of HR in conducting internal investigations and grievance processes.Leads on the Staff Satisfaction and Staff Retention approaches.Lead the assessment of the KIPP Colorado staff benefits program.In collaboration with Senior Director of HR and the Chief People Officer, oversee the administration and capturing of staff satisfaction surveys.Data Reporting and Tracking:Implements strong data systems to support reporting, risk management, and data informed decision-making.Assures HR systems and technology are accurate and functional for staff and leaders.Owns staff data collection strategy and follow through.Ensures collection of staff information occurs accurately and efficiently.Develops a cadence and proactively shares and supports data reporting.Team Leadership:Lead directly and/or indirectly; staff members, strategy and work across the KIPP Colorado organization.Manages and coaches team towards annual goals.About a Successful Candidate:Bachelor's degree (required).At least 5-7 years of relevant and aligned experience in school or non-profit based human resources (required).At least 5 years of school based experience and/or a strong record of helping underserved students achieve academic success (required).At least 2 years of non-profit or school based compliance experience (preferred).Past experience (2 years) of leading adults in a school environment (required).Exceptional Student Experience commitment (required).Outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail; outstanding written and oral communication skills.Ability to manage ambiguity and multiple priorities in an entrepreneurial environment.Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative and teamwork.Strong work ethic coupled with an enthusiastic and passionate approach to one’s work.Compensation and Benefits:Employee retention and satisfaction is imperative for KIPP Colorado.
