The pay range is $89,700.00 - $161,500.00

Are you a design expert who can support your business by staying one step ahead of industry trends, new materials and techniques? Can you demonstrate the utmost attention to detail and create products that are unprecedented in the marketplace for their design and quality for the price? Then you’ll have success on our Design team who owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials.

As a Senior Designer, Bedding, you’ll be accountable for and lead Owned Brand Product Design and Development with direction from design leaders to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. You will design lines for a category, brand, business or guest segment utilizing your proficiency/expertise in product design and development. Bedding categories will be your primary focus (top-of-bed, sheets, blankets, quilts, decorative pillows…). Finally, you’ll lead, develop and manage team members by setting clear objectives, providing ongoing performance feedback, and evaluating potential.

You will be accountable for and lead the PD&D Design and Development Processes, which includes:

Create a range of original products, exclusive to Target, that achieve the overall design vision & concept, express our brands’ values, and deliver on merchant and business strategies.

Provide style leadership & champion our owned brands. Develop a clear, strategic design point of view that ensures trend-right brand differentiation while aligning with the overall design vision, merchant strategy, and assortment architecture.

Cultivate an insatiable curiosity to understand guest needs to inform and create relevant solutions.

Drive and lead on-going trend and market research; share inspirations and insights broadly. As an industry expert, forecast category, brand, business and/or guest segment trends and identify whitespace opportunities.

Partner with peers across the division to ensure brand cohesion and seasonal continuity.

Lead sustainability and inclusivity efforts for your categories.

See product design from concept through all stages of execution to ensure it delivers on overall design strategy, brand identity, quality expectations, user experience, and assortment strategy.

Collaborate with Product Engineering, Technical Development and Sourcing teams to ideate and ensure designs are compatible with quality requirements, vendor capabilities and pricing goals.

Partner with domestic and overseas vendors; understand and leverage their capabilities.

Manage, mentor and develop Associate Designers and Designers.

Diligent approach to workload, maintaining good, timely communication with internal and external partners.

About you:

4-year Degree in Design (Product Design or Textile Design preferred).

Minimum 8+ years of experience in design and product development, including taking product from concept through execution and partnering with overseas manufacturers.

Proven expertise in domestics and/or home décor categories. Bedding experience preferred. Advanced understanding of textiles and product production.

Seasoned style leader. Strong aptitude for trend, design and print & pattern; demonstrated high taste level, creative ability and proclivity for innovation. Exceptionally skilled in researching and applying market/trend information.

Strong commercial sense, market knowledge, and ability to research and apply market/trend information.

Proficient in all Adobe Creative Suite programs.

Highly collaborative and able to successfully work in a team environment.

Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.
