We design, develop, and deploy software which operates at scale and is foundational for some of our most important services, such as iCloud. In this role you will have a unique opportunity to participate in delivering some of the world's largest-scale cloud services and products. We are seeking an experienced software engineering manager to be part of maintaining and building a highly skilled team providing a layer underpinning consumer-facing applications, services, and products at Apple. The performance and security of the systems we build are critical. We typically interface directly to low-level Linux kernel interfaces, using asynchronous I/O and threads to distribute workload. Experience with systems languages such as C, C++, Go, Java, Swift, and/or Rust is valuable, as is familiarity with Unix-type operating systems and concepts.DescriptionIn this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, recruiting, onboarding, assessing, and promoting staff. You will also be responsible for ensuring the team is on track, meeting set goals, and making adjustments based on data as needed. It is also expected that you will both drive and be a significant contributor to key technical and strategic decisions as they relate to the team’s work.Minimum Qualifications10+ years of proven experienceA cross-section of solid understanding of Java, Swift, Rust, Go, and/or C/C++Depth of networking experienceFamiliarity with design principles surrounding distributed systemsExpertise with software security primitives and performance concepts, certificates, and IdentityDemonstrated skill and expertise with Unix-type operating systemsSkilled in clear communicationStrong team leadership experiencePreferred QualificationsEffective project management abilitiesBS in computer science or equivalent experienceAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
