Our team, Health Research Applications, focuses on the Apple Research app, which lets users participate in large scale health research studies that are leading to new insights in human health and advancements in Apple’s health technology. We’re looking for an exceptional software engineering leader to guide the development of new research platform features on iPhone and Apple Watch.DescriptionAs manager of the team you’ll have the opportunity to work with experts in their field to build new and expand on existing health research features on iPhone and Apple Watch. You’ll partner with diverse stakeholders across the company, including clinical, privacy, legal, product marketing, design, and more. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong technical, communication, and project management skills to handle responsibilities including:Defining product features, functional specs, resource planning, and development schedulesScoping and prioritizing features and bug fixesRepresenting the team and its technology with engineering as well as non-technical stakeholdersAdvising and encouraging engineering best practices to deliver quality features while effectively controlling riskDefining and growing a diverse and world-class engineering teamMinimum Qualifications8+ years of professional software engineering experience including Apple platform technologies like iOS & macOS frameworks, Swift/Objective-C, Xcode, etc.Successfully launched high-quality consumer products and care deeply about product excellenceTechnical experience with native iOS development and a strong grasp of computer science fundamentalsDrive forward through various constraints and ambiguity on difficult problems to make sound decisionsExcellent communication skills, including ability to influence cross-functionally and communicate clearly with senior leadershipPreferred Qualifications3+ years experience leading software engineering teamsTrack record demonstrating the ability to build a diverse and strong team – attracting, hiring, retaining, and motivating the best talentPassion for and prior experience designing and implementing outstanding user interfaces and customer experienceHighly organized, someone who thrives working in a fast-paced environment, and loves learning new technologiesExperience with data analytics or human subjects researchExperience with scalable systems that integrate between a mobile client and serverObsessively passionate and inquisitive, and seeks to solve everyday problems in innovative waysBS in Computer Science or equivalent experienceAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $190,700 and $329,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. You’ll also receive benefits including comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses — including tuition.
