The Associate Dean of Academic and Faculty Affairs is a key member of the District Office of Academic Affairs at Miami Dade College (MDC). The position serves as a strategic academic affairs liaison with college-wide functional areas and is instrumental in the completion of institutional reviews, reports, academic planning, technology solutions, maintenance of internal processes, collaboration with MDCPS, compliance with textbook affordability requirements through leadership of college-wide SharkPack initiatives and implementation, and support of accreditation efforts in support of the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs. The position collaborates with various stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the institutional goals and accreditation standards while spearheading initiatives to enhance academic programs, technological infrastructure and strategic priorities in alignment with the College mission, vision, and strategic plan. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supports the completion of institutional reviews and reports in accordance with requirements of internal and external facing entities, including reporting requests by the Florida Department of Education

Leads the college-wide efforts in the successful implementation of textbook affordability requirements by FDOE. Serves as the college-wide lead and resource for the strategic planning, direction, and integration of the Shark Pack program growth, towards an eBook conversion for courses and programs

Works collaboratively with academic affairs personnel at the college to prepare and maintain internal college reviews and processes for District Academic Affairs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, objectives, and established college policies and procedures

Provides support to the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs in all aspects of planning and accreditation processes, including documentation collection, preparation, and continuous improvement to ensure departmental area alignment with accreditation standards

Provides academic affairs leadership support for special task force, committee work, and area priorities within the Academic Affairs Office

Collaborates with key college leadership to ensure excellence and accessibility in educational endeavors and continuously assesses effective strategies in support of faculty and student success

Supports the Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs by preparing reports, presentations, and documentation for Board of Trustees meetings and approvals

Collects, analyses, and synthesizes student enrollment data reports to support the dissemination of information for strategic academic planning and improvement

Ensures the integrity and accuracy of enrollment data in institutional reports and submissions to internal and external agencies

Supports and presents findings in written reports for the Annual Effectiveness Reports (AERs) to document District Academic Affairs’ quality enhancement efforts aligned with the College Strategic Plan and area annual goals. Compiles documents in support of area goals and priorities and ensuring the tracking of key performance metrics

Leads college-wide committees in the development of academic and student support digital infrastructure and technological resources across the institution

Develops functional application training providing user workflow and documentation

Serves as district resource for academic support as it relates to class scheduling and room assignments efficiencies

Seeks innovative solutions to academic operations, including but not limited to academic scheduling and faculty assignments

Serves as the district resource for Academic Department Chairs and Academic Scheduling

Collaborates with Academic Affairs team to streamline internal operations and identity and implement solutions including new technologies and processes

Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in a related field from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of administration experience in higher education

Proven and related experience in PeopleSoft

Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures

Knowledge of college educational philosophy and top management administrative practices and procedures

Knowledge of college curricula and instructional programs

Knowledge and familiarity with technology infrastructure, including PeopleSoft Information Systems, databases and software

Advanced knowledge in technical aspects of Campus Solutions -Faculty Workload

Knowledge and understanding of a wider range of instructional systems development, training methods, techniques and formats

Strong interpersonal skills that promote dedication, integrity, creativity, innovation and growth and accountability

Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments

Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form as well as abstract and concrete

Possesses excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills

Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff

Ability to reason, and make sound judgments on how responsibilities are completed in compliance with College policies and procedures

Possess excellent project management skills

Possess effective communication, collaboration, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills to influence internal and external stakeholders

Ability to work effectively, courteously and agreeably in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
