JOB SUMMARYThe Substance Use Disorder Counselor reports to the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Supervisor and will provide direct services to program participants. The Substance Use Disorder Counselor is responsible for the Substance Abuse Treatment Services in accordance with program contract requirements and ADP licensing.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESMake decisions regarding counseling/case management services.Refer to the SUD Supervisor issues that are not resolved at the Substance Use Disorder Counselor's level.Participate in all staff meetings.Provide services to caseload of clients assigned by the SUD Supervisor.Participate in the screening and placement of clients using ASAM criteria.Conduct assessment and develop Client-Centered Treatment Plan based on the client's current status, strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences, using the current Electronic Health Record (EHR) System.Consistently meet program performance standards including a service impact of 55%, sign and submit documentation goals, and attainment of 40 hours of job-related in-service training per year.Update client treatment plans as needed and review monthly.Consult with other agencies to coordinate client services.Conduct individual counseling sessions with clients.Prepare and facilitate large and small groups for counseling and education.Review and discuss treatment plans and discharge plans with the SUD Supervisor.Always use all available referral sources during the discharge planning and completion process to establish a continuum of care for the client (Aftercare, Sober Living, Outpatient, etc.).Coordinate with supervisors pertaining to important matters such as medical and treatment progress, and always notify Fresno County Probation regarding admissions, no-shows, and discharges.Ability to accurately document all services rendered during the course of treatment for each individual client.Notify the SUD Supervisor when the client refuses to participate in treatment or causes any disruption to the program.Ensure that services provided meet standards and are in compliance with Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), contracting agency, and Turning Point of Central California, Inc.Bring programmatic problems to the attention of the SUD Supervisor.Serves as a member of the case managing/counseling team.Will drive on Agency business.Think and act quickly and efficiently in emergencies.Physical presence in the office is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTSMust have a current AOD certification/license from a certifying body approved by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), and maintain good standing

ORMust be currently registered to provide AOD counseling services from a certifying body approved by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and maintain good standing.Current certified training in emergency first aid procedures and CPR, preferred.Knowledge of substance abuse, addictions, and related disorders, and ability to effectively provide educational groups regarding the treatment of these disorders.Ability to work effectively and professionally with program clients.Ability to manage priorities and workflow.Must have experience in group counseling.Must have experience in counseling utilizing the cognitive behavior modification modality.Ability to write substantive and grammatically correct treatment plans, case/clinical notes, and discharge summaries.Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom, and other communication/meeting platforms.Ability to operate within Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws. Agency insurer authorization is required.Ability to pass a criminal background check.Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, general physical, and TB test.
