Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico is seeking a
Program Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1.
Match Enrollment
a. Conduct volunteer and client enrollments, including interviews, orientations, assessments, training, and any other enrollment processes
b. Apply child safety and risk management knowledge, policies, and procedures throughout all aspects of job function; Identify child safety issues for volunteers, children, and their families.
c. Identify/eliminate any barriers interfering with the completion of the enrollment process

Match Support
a. Continually assess the match relationship focusing on child safety, relationship development, positive youth development and volunteer satisfaction; identify real or potential problems/barriers and address/resolve them as early as possible; assess and provide for individual training needs and information & support needs for each match participant
b. Develop, promote, and implement individual and group match activities to support ongoing volunteer involvement with the child and agency affiliation through individualized recognition, annual events, and reengagement strategies
c. Effectively utilize surveys to assess positive and negative outcomes the child has experienced on an annual basis
3.
Match Retention
a. Work proactively with Site Director on a continual basis to ensure that successful matches made are successful matches retained
b. Identify intervention strategies to assure volunteer issues and concerns are addressed early in order to maintain positive relationships within the match
c. Utilize office best practices that include the identification of warning signs and opportunities which might jeopardize the success of a match and implement interventions to retain the match
4.
Billing Hours
a. Must maintain organized personal method of documenting and tracking daily billable match engagement hours
b. Must record engagement hours in accordance with BBBS standards, utilizing agency databases; documentation must be accurate and current
c. Must meet agency assigned individual goals in billable hours
5.
Promote the Mission, Vision, Values & Messaging of BBBS
a. Assist the Site Director in presenting/promoting/selling BBBS messaging to diverse community members, potential donors, and partners at varied venues and events as directed in order to grow the organization
b. Participate in projects, programs, and events that support the BBBS mission as directed by manager
c. Actively support team in meeting aggressive volunteer and youth recruitment goals
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
•Strong people skills and the ability to sell and engage the BBBS Vision, Mission, Values, and messaging to diverse community members, potential donors, and partners
•Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
•Effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal, customer service, and sales skills
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
•Ability to function in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
•Data entry skills and/or typing 40-50 wpm preferred
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
•Bilingual (Spanish/English) applicants strongly encouraged to apply
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree required . BA in social services, sociology, psychology, or related field is preferred; college transcripts will be required;
OR
• Associate's degree/two years of higher education AND two years of relevant experience
in social services, sociology, psychology, child development, or related field;
OR
• Four years of related work experience : Defined as work assessment, intake or interview and relationship development experience with child and adult populations; understanding of child development and family dynamics
•Must have car, valid driver's license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums as well as pass a criminal background check
Physical Requirements
•Routine office environment; flexible work hours to meet customer needs; when home visits are indicated, must travel to local communities and neighborhoods
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
•Must be able to lift 15 lbs at a time
