Volunteers of America is hiring for a Program Specialist in our Family Resource Center program in the Alexandria area.
Under the direct supervision of the FRC Program Director, the FRC Program Specialist is responsible for providing services to families. These families are primarily referred to the Family Resource Center (FRC) by the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Services provided by the program specialist include parenting classes, family skills building classes, coaching during family visits, as well as other supportive services.
Essential FunctionsPlan, organize and coordinate activities with program director.Teach and facilitate parenting classes, family skills building classes, and coaching during family visits.Provide families with information about needed resources and make referrals as appropriate.Maintain accurate and timely case documentation.Complete and submit required reports in an accurate and timely manner to ensure deadlines are met.Adhere to all HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings and case reviews.Proficiently use computers and relevant software packages and applications.Participate when required in outreach activities and other community based events.Present ideas effectively, both orally and in writingPractice de-escalation and conflict resolution when handling complaints.Work collaboratively with team members and staff of other programs.Participate and complete any required or assigned trainings.Any other duties assigned by supervisor.Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in social work or related field from an accredited college, preferred.Bachelor's degree in another field with at least one year of social services experience can be substituted.
