Akin seeks a Senior Vice President of People & Culture (SPC) to lead and support the transformation and growth of the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and creative professional to lead Akin to the next level of development and success. The SPC is a member of Akin's executive leadership team and reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). In partnership with the CEO and executive leadership, the SPC will contribute to Akin's strategic & operational plan. They will oversee the development and implementation of People strategies, programs, processes, and policies aligned with Akin's growth objectives and support the achievement of overall organization and operations objectives. This role leads a team of twenty-eight people with three senior leader direct reports.
The SPC acts as a thought leader and advisor to executive leadership and people managers on issues related to organization development, performance, talent, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging & Accessibility (DEIBA), employee relations and engagement.
This HR role is focused on the facilitation of a positive, productive culture, outstanding employee experience, and maintaining a productive, diverse, talented, and engaged workforce through the design, development and execution of Human Resources strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives. The SPC serves as the key business partner for the CEO and Executives.
The SPC will work collaboratively to solve problems, identify inefficiencies, and optimize policies/procedures. In this capacity, they will serve an active role in establishing systems and organizational structure to support the strategic direction of the organization as well as executing operational people strategies, achieving performance metrics, and identifying efficiency and cost control opportunities.

Akin provides the option for 100% employer paid medical insurance. Dental and vision insurance are covered with minimal employee contributions. Employer pays for group term life insurance & AD&D, and short-term disability. There is a 3% safe harbor 401k employer contribution. Tuition reimbursement is available along with paid holidays, sick days, vacation time, and employee appreciation days.

- Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources Management, Juris Doctorate (JD), Human Services, Social Justice, or related field, and/or equivalent work experience; master's degree in human resources or related field preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple People functions; must include Organizational Change Management and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging & Accessibility; SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
- 7+ years of executive HR leadership experience supervising and developing seasoned staff across multiple disciplines.
- Proven record of successfully developing and implementing human resources strategies and initiatives that drive business results.
- Work experience in a company with 400+ employees.
- Experience with a dispersed workforce.
- Experience leading in a start-up environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the organization's Board of Trustees.
- Experience in building trusted advisor relationships and influencing others (including C-level executives). Ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
- Demonstrated ability to build rapport, develop trust and credibility with peers, direct team and across the organization.
- Demonstrated experience of ethical leadership.
- Ability to negotiate with peers and other leaders to come to agree upon productive solutions to business problems.
- Bi-lingual in Spanish, or other languages, preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
