The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Claims Shared Services, leveraging an innovative mindset and financial and procurement acumen, provides vision and holds accountabilities for the advancement of our national claims vendor management, quality management, and operational controls programs. Collaborating with internal and external partners and contributing directly to long-range plans, the AVP, Claims Shared Services leads teams to ensure maximum value is received from suppliers; quality management programs effectively increase efficiencies to deliver exceptional claims management and client experience; and operational controls programs effectively minimize risks and improve overall productivity along with providing insights on trends and opportunities to empower effective decision making.

How you will create impact:

  • Leading forward the evolution of strategic plans and objectives to elevate the national claims vendor management programs and quality and controls management programs to support growth and profitability.
  • Maturing our claims vendor management programs to deliver increased efficiencies, cost-effectiveness, and alignment to our enterprise risk management.
  • Executing with accountability for the delivery of claims quality management and controls to ensure the delivery of objectives and enable complex decision making. Additionally, providing strategic leadership for the National Risk Control Strategy within National Claims which controls, mitigates, and reduces risk.
  • Overseeing the development and delivery of consolidated multi-disciplinary operational programs and services through establishing priorities, planning and monitoring these shared services for trends and opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  • Fostering strong partnerships with claims leaders, vendors, business partners and other internal and external stakeholders to support in the achievement of business objectives and to effectively monitor and measure compliance results.
  • Supporting human resources activities for direct reports including recruitment and retention, training, performance management, rewards and recognition.
  • Leading and engaging your team to deliver strategic objectives through effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and developing emerging talent, and fostering an innovative, collaborative, and agile culture.

To join our team:

  • You have 7 years+ of progressive related experience, including multiple years of experience contributing to procurement programs.
  • You have a post-secondary degree in Finance, Business, Procurement or a related field of study.
  • Having completed or pursuing an Accounting (ie. CPA) and/or Procurement (ie. PMAC) designation is an asset.
  • You have led or contributed to developing vendor management programs, and have knowledge and understanding of quality management and operational controls programs.
  • You have the financial acumen to interpret financial procurement forecasts, claims controls, measures, and audit reports.
  • Having experience and/or working knowledge of the P&C claims, national claims operations, and the broader insurance industry landscape, regulatory and competitive is an asset.
  • You have complex stakeholder management skills and are experienced in successfully developing, coordinating and leading initiatives across several functional areas in collaboration with senior leaders.
  • You are an experienced leader of teams, well-skilled in leading teams to deliver and operate innovatively in an engaged environment.

  • As a leader, strict confidentiality is required with respect to sensitive matters and employees' personal information.
  • You will be subject to a Criminal Record and Consumer History background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
  • Proficiency in English is essential to the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority non-francophone clients, groups, teams. Drafting complex English documents and preparing daily reports for anglophone leaders. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
